About Us
We are a family-run, small, pet-sitting business. We began pet sitting in 1988 in Palos Verdes , California . We sold that business after seven years and moved to Maine to be near our grandchildren.
At present, we have only one daughter, Carmen Loneske working, who occasionally assist us with sitting assignments. Most sitting is currently done only by us, Bill and/or Peggy Foster.
Free Interviews
We always come to your home, prior to any sitting assignment, to meet your pets and explain our services in detail. We will leave you complete information and our references during that meeting.
Even if your departure is not scheduled to occur within the next three months we suggest having the preliminary interview as soon as possible. We do a registration interview and then a follow-up visit, just prior to your departure, again, at no charge to you. This assures you that we have reserved the time to be with your pets while you will be gone.
We can conduct the interview, usually just a half hour, at your convenience. Evenings, weekends or weeknights are available, if that is a good time for you.
Vacation Visits
For dogs, this is at least twice a day, morning and evening. Our morning visits are between 7:00 a.m. and 9:00 a.m. and our evening visits are between 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. We can, if necessary, schedule a mid-day visit also. All visits are thirty minutes, or more, in length with your dog.
For cats, once a day is usually sufficient unless your cat is extremely social in which case the second visit is more for companionship than needed care. We do cats once a day, as the opportunity arises for us. We keep the visit, however, at the same time, every day, once established. All visits are normally thirty minutes with cats. However, if your cat is shy and prefers to remain hidden from petting then the visit will last until the duties are completed, each visit.
Daily Walks
Many families are two income families, which means both partners have to work and be gone from the home all day. We can help calm the stress of being away for long periods of time with our daily walk program for your dog(s).
We will come to the home, once a day, weekdays, between the hours of 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. to take your dog for out for exercise and a treat. All these visits are one half hour in length, or more. This allows for exercise, potty time and playtime. We have some discounts available for those folks who use our daily walk service five days per week, week in and week out.
Overnight
For dogs and cats who need “special extra attention” we offer our overnight service. This is usually a twelve-hour period, 6:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. , mutually agreed upon. During this time frame the pets are able to get dinner and breakfast, exercise and companionship for those dogs who like to sleep, snout-to-snout!
When necessary, we can also add a mid-day, potty visit, in conjunction with the overnights, if applicable.
Live-In
This is twenty hours per day of being with your pets. Elderly pets, pets that need medication more than twice a day and those pets that just deserve to be coddled with this special treatment are eligible.
We remain in your home and are usually only gone between the hours of 1:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. We can answer the phone, take messages and you can check every day to see how your pets are doing.
When we do either live-in or overnights we never eat your food or drink any of your beverages. We bring our own supplies. If we utilize the sheets on the bed you designate for our use we leave them clean upon our departure as we hope you do upon our arrival.
Live-in service has become extremely popular as you can imagine. We have a very, very limited ability to offer this service, as there are only two of us able to do it at any one time. Please plan as far ahead as possible if you anticipate using this type of service for your pets.
Veterinarian Visits
Please note that we never charge to take your pet to your veterinarian for any emergency situation. I.e. skunked, porcupine quills, etc. We always notify you first of the situation and then with your permission take your pet(s) to your veterinarian.
